Purpose
Under general supervision, to serve in an on-call capacity and to perform set-up, tear down, and clean-up activities at the Civic Center and other city owned rental venues; to perform cleaning of grounds, offices, meeting rooms, and common areas; and to perform assist with and/or perform light maintenance and repairs and general office services.

Essential Functions

Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.  The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.  Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Performs set-up, tear down, and clean-up of rental facilities; orients patrons to facility capabilities and assists with special needs; monitors guest activities; coordinates with service providers, security, and vendors; and reports and resolves service issues and problems.
  • Cleans and maintains meeting rooms, offices, grounds, and common areas; acquires needed materials and tools; assists with and performs light maintenance, cleans building perimeter, and may assist with systems maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Responds to emergency cleaning requirements in meeting rooms, offices, grounds, and common areas; maintains clean and safe environment for employees and the public; and interacts with the general public. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Management   .

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of federal and state codes and regulations relating workplace safety and city policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of city facilities, geography and work locations
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and requirements
  • Knowledge of principles of customer service, meetings and events policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Skill in understanding and applying applicable federal and state rules and regulations, City of Moriarty Policies and Procedures
  • Skill in cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and common areas.
  • Skill in meeting and event set-up and tear down requirements.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, other city departments and contractors.

Education, Experience, Work Experience, Certifications and Licenses:

Work experience directly related to the essential functions of the position may substitute for education at a rate of one (1) year of experience for each thirty (30) credit hours of education.

  • A High School Diploma and two (2) years’ of experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities in the field of facility maintenance, or related field. 

Environmental Factors, Work Conditions, and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed primarily in internal environments with possible exposure to inclement weather, and varying temperatures.
  • Work in performed in an on-call status and requires attendance at meetings and special events outside the normal work schedule.
  • Position is subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving and lifting objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Work requires ability to speak, hear, touch, and see.

Position Purpose:
Under general supervision, assists with the day-to-day operations of the Fire Department, Provides for fire and Basic life support medical response. Is active in fire prevention and inspection programs. Participates in training, drill, and independent studies; participates in maintenance of Fire Department equipment and facilities. Drives and operates fire apparatus and pumps at fire scenes, with qualification and training evolutions for specific apparatus with fire chief approval.

Provides fire response, performs, and assists with daily assignments and station duties, responsible for checking and maintaining all equipment and apparatus on a regular basis, completion of all fire reports in a timely manner.

Assist with the operation of the department and may provide on-scene incident command for fire responses in the absence of a higher-ranking officer. Coordinates personnel with standard operations including but not limited to hydrant testing and maintenance, Station duties, training, and may conduct preplanning, fire code inspections, and public fire safety education.

Responds to a wide variety of emergency alarms by driving fire department vehicles that they are qualified to operate; monitors and performs various duties to ensure the emergency response readiness of the fire apparatus and vehicles.

Maintains current knowledge of firefighting and prevention techniques, while obtaining required certification and training as listed or mandated by the Fire Chief.

May perform Fire duties with staff and other work-related assignments as required.

Coordinate Department training in fire at the discretion of the Fire Chief.

Other Duties:

Participates in various support assignments, including but not limited to the maintenance of inventory records, scheduled inspections of department equipment, Hydrant inspections, maintenance, and fire flow testing. Ordering inventory and issuance of safety equipment, the preparation and maintenance of department maps, routes, pre-fire plans, and the preparation of specifications for new equipment and apparatus.

May be called upon to perform the duties of a company officer as an acting Fire Lieutenant on a relief basis; supervises other department personnel on multiple-alarm responses and as dictated by emergency situations. Assist and participates in the preparation of reports and recommendations regarding new firefighting equipment, and apparatus.

Qualifications:

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    Knowledge of State of New Mexico, County, and City of Moriarty Fire and Building Codes.
  • Knowledge of effective firefighting and emergency medical standards, NFPA, EMS Bureau and OSHA recommended practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the City of Moriarty policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the effective operation of a wide variety of fire suppression and emergency medical vehicles and equipment.
  • Skills in the application of NFPA, EMS Bureau and OSHA fire fighting
  • Skills in the effective operation of a wide variety of fire suppression and emergency medical vehicles and equipment.
  • Skills in working under pressure of crisis situations and deadlines, in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with department staff,
    other City departments, elected officials, the community and area fire response.
  • Skills in communication effectively orally and in the development of written documents and reports.
  • Principles of hydraulics as applied to fire suppression: design, use, and maintenance of fire apparatus with specific qualifications, certifications, and/or training
    with fire chief approval.
  • Geography of the city of Moriarty and its response area, as well as general knowledge of water main and hydrant locations in the city of Moriarty.
  • Skillfully and safely operate all the fire apparatus qualified to operate.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Current Professional CPR Certification

Annual Bloodborne Pathogen Certification

(Preferred) IFSAC Fire fighter I Certification

A VALID CDL-E Driver’s License

Annual EVOC Certification

Ability to pass DOT Physical and drug screening.

NM EMT BASIC License or higher

Training and Certification from other entities may qualify in place of IFSAC at the discretion of the Fire Chief.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in primarily internal environments subject to emergency response involving considerable driving and the potential for hazardous work 
     situations, infectious diseases, and outdoor working conditions.
  • Work requires regular and punctual attendance, as well as attendance at meetings and special events outside a normal work schedule.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving, and lifting objects up to 165 pounds.
  • Work requires the ability to speak, hear, touch, and see.
  • Work requires an individual to be physically fit to perform National standard objectives.

Equipment and Tools Utilized:

  • Special Equipment includes computerized and conventional office equipment, equipment common to fire suppression and emergency medical services and
